ROOTS OF REBELLION

ROOTS OF REBELLION

Roots of Rebellion

Roots of Rebellion is a folding A1 poster that addresses the similarities between two seemingly opposing genres, Folk and Punk. I have always loved music and found myself considering how the two genres, although very different in sound and audience, both had roots in people who rejected the status quo and developed their own unique sound. I am not an expert in music history by any means, so I pitched the title “Roots of Rebellion” and commissioned my friend and folk singer Julianne Petersen to write me an essay on the subject, as she has been around the folk and bluegrass music scene her whole life. This essay inspired the folding poster you see here now. The word rebellion is an electric piece of hand lettering of my own design to add continuity to the illustration, which was created using Procreate and Photoshop. The halftone dot texture is from True Grit Texture Supply.
