METAMORPHOSIS
Metamorphosis
Inspired by the journey typography has made from traditional hand-lettered blackletter to the contemporary digital font, meet ‘Metamorphosis’. In this book, I explore the interplay of tradition and technology by transforming the gothic typeface Berman Bold into a modern pixelated alphabet. It’s an invitation to embrace the ever-changing landscape of design, an ode to the past, and a testament to the limitless potential of the future. The Metamorphosis alphabet was created in Processing, a free-to-download computer programming application in which you use Java to create digital art and design. I created my own code to generate a pixelated version of the typeface Berman Bold. The code separates the sketch output into a grid and then randomizes the content of each square to produce the end result. I was able to use one of my design signatures, pattern making, as well by repeating some of my favorite letterforms.
